Did you know the word Kansa Vakti in Ayurveda literally means Bronze Bowl or cup?
Bronze, or Kansa, is also one of the healing metals in Ayurveda and is widely used in Kansa Vakti foot massages. Kansa has alkalizing properties so it has an anti inflammatory, Pitta or heat reducing property.
As we know in Ayurveda, one of the best ways to reduce heat or Pitta in the body is through Padabhyanga, foot massages. Massaging the foot with a Kansa bowl can provide enhanced benefits and results.
Traditionally, Kansa bowl massage is given only to the feet usually with warmed ghee or oils. The combination may help to relieve cardio vascular problems, nervous system ailments, and excess Doshas in the body.
During Kansa massage, the therapist holds the bowl directly in their hands. This helps to transfer the nourishing five elements – space, air, fire, water, earth – from the five fingers of your hands, via the bowl to the client.
The Correct way of using Kansa Bowl:
It’s essential that there is prana or energy transfer from therapist to client in all Ayurvedic therapies and massages. Likewise the same principle applies to with the Kansa bowl massage. It should be held in such a way that the metal of Kansa bowl is in direct contact with the palm of your hand or fingers.
