Your feet. Ever wonder what they would tell you if they could talk?
“We’re tired.” “We’re sore.” “I know we look amazing in these flip flops but they’re killing us.”
What if they could show you how emotions like anxiety, worry, anger, fear and grief are creating physical illnesses in your body? What if they could help boost your immune system, lose weight, and fight cold, flu, allergies, headaches and other common health conditions? Would you take some time to listen? The truth is, the feet don’t lie. They are constantly telling us what’s going on inside our bodies. Often times we don’t take the time to listen or we simply don’t know how to interpret the message.
Thousands of years ago the sages of some of the greatest cultures of their times such as, India and China, took the time to listen. They began to study the feet and their mind-body connections. They taught what they discovered. More importantly, they put pen to paper so that their knowledge could be preserved for countless years to come. What they shared has been passed down through the centuries. It has been expanded, modified, adapted. In modern times it has become known as Reflexology.
Reflexology works on different levels. It is based on the theory that every part of the body has corresponding reflex points on the feet, hands and ears. Stimulating, or activating, these reflex points stimulates nerve impulse between the brain and body. It moves life energy commonly referred to as Prana or Chi. It reveals areas of crystallization resulting from the accumulation of uric acid, lactic acid or toxins that don’t get fully removed by the lymphatic system. All of these combined are the voice of the feet.
