Bhagavad Gita: What Is A GURU and How To Recognize One
The word “guru” became known and often used nowadays. The word guru means “heavy” because the teacher has to seriously discipline and teach the student, and that’s why it’s used to mean a teacher. Someone can be called a guru if one teaches what he or she knows; otherwise one cannot be called a guru. Just as in any other subject matter, we need a teacher or guide. Same is for spirituality. In the Gita Krishna explains how to recognize a bona fide spiritual master.
